The Gaming Giant Hires Apex Legends Producer to Revitalize Challenged Hero Shooter Project Ethos

The renowned publisher has welcomed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Leadership Shift Follows Mixed Reception

Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last fall.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure notified team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a clearer game identity.

The president expressed that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to better meet gamer demands.

The news follows a similar action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Team—

I know you all just finished your gathering - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a update, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and innovative designers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that relationship to continue.”

Through your commitment and flexibility, especially over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.

The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It affirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had work to do. It uncovered the requirement for a more distinct brand.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the input to heart and revamped the title with a revitalized direction - one that’s poised to achieve its ambition to our fans.

Our confidence in Project ETHOS grows every day. To further the incredible advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome Ben Brinkman as the new Lead of 31st Union. Following a period of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on next week.

His leadership and background in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having spent the last 15 years producing and leading some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in welcoming Ben next week. We are all eager to continue witnessing the development of Project ETHOS in the time to come.

David

Game Information and Concept

Project Ethos was unveiled in last year in conjunction with a early access event. At the time, 31st Union described the title as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting evolution on the style."

"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in live gameplay to fit your unique tactics," the official summary reads. "Take on the rivals with unique powers, challenges, and obstacles that evolve every match. Do you leave securely with your valuable rewards? Or go big, put it on the line, and hope your group can earn top ranking? The decision is yours."

The game lacks an official release date or consoles, but fans can anticipate more updates as creation continues.
